Founded in 1993, The Educational Theater Company is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to educating and enlightening young people with positive messages via dynamic multi-ethnic stage and TV shows and workshops, conducted by and featuring professional actors.
ETC has assembled a veteran staff of Emmy award-winning writers, directors and producers in children's programming. Together, they have over 100 (cumulative) years' experience working with local school districts tackling such subjects as peer pressure, substance use prevention, teen pregnancy, the environment, racism, ethnic and cultural diversity, history, smoking, and violence prevention. Over two million young people have ssen ETC's stage shows.
ETC's shows have received raves from educators, parents and students throughout California. ETC's live shows use a synthesis of sound, movement and text to bring their topics to life. Original shows are written for the intended audience, mixing music, comedy and story theater techniques so that the material is presented in a fun, entertaining and appropriate manner.
Shows are developed with input from educators and thoroughly tested to ensure the best in artistic and educational standards. Evaluations from schools are on an ongoing process throughout the life of each presentation. Professional young actors of varying ethnic backgrounds work together in 3-4 person casts so that the shows visually break down stereotypes as well. ETC shows impact audiences at a visceral level because one picture is worth 1,000 words. They not only entertain and inform, but can actually transform awareness by touching the audience's heart and mind.
Creative Dramatic Workshops are available to schools and conferences on an as needed basis.
